Hong Kong's copyright laws are based on those which apply in the United Kingdom. A list of the relevant legislation is provided, together with copies of the Registration of Patents Ordinance and Copyright Ordinance.* The principal aim is to protect the holder of the copyright for any production of which he is the author. Infringement of copyright is actionable and can be taken to the courts.
