1. Please see the attached PQ to which we are coordinating the reply.

2. We have checked with the relevant FCO Departments and the answer is a firm 'No' in the case of every Dependency except Gibraltar.

However, the question is somewhat ambiguous in that it could be read to imply that we are carrying out negotiations on the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.

We therefore suggest the following reply:

'No. We are not at present carrying out negotiations on sovereignty of any British dependencies

I should be grateful foryour comments by lunchtime on 16 June.
