Future of Hong Kong
1. Her Majesty's Government are committed to fulfilling their
responsibilities to Hong Kong and its people. Senior Chinese
officials have on a number of occasions given assurances that investors
in Hong Kong need have, no worries for the future. These assurances
were repeated when the Rt Hon Humphrey Atkins MP (Spelthorne) was in
Peking in January. The excellent state of relations between our two
countries and between China and Hong Kong reinforces these statements.
[If asked] My Rt Hon Friend the Prime Minister will be discussing
the question during her visit to China in September.
