The remaining Dependent Territories are:

Anguilla

Bermuda

British Antarctic Territory

British Indian Ocean Territory

British Virgin Islands

Cayman Islands

Falkland Islands and Dependencies

Gibraltar

Hong Kong

Montserrat

Pitcairn Group of Islands

St Helena and Dependencies

Turks and Caicos Islands

The territories whose independence is not feasible because of

political and other factors are Gibraltar, Hong Kong and the

Falkland Islands. Other territories where it is not feasible are

Pitcairn (population only about 50), British Antarctic Territory

(no indigenous population) and British Indian Ocean Territory

(no indigenous population).

Mr Rifkind gave a lengthy written answer on 27 October 1982

to Mr Foulkes' question on the executive and legislative councils

of our Dependent Territories.
