The grant of leave is at the discretion of the

Secretary of State. The amount of leave will not

normally exceed that provided for senior officers by

the local leave regulations. At present 42 days' overseas leave per annum is granted annually with first-class passages at Hong Kong Government expense. There is alsb provision for local leave up to 10 working days.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office will pay passages for you and your wife and one servant on first appoint- ment and at the end of the appointment together with the cost of a certain amount of baggage and insurance to the scale provided under Diplomatic Service Regulations for DS Offices of your grade.

7. During your term of office, you will come under the provisions of the Governors' Pension Scheme.

A copy

of this Scheme (with amendment) is attached. I have asked Personnel Services Department in consultation with the Pensions Department, Overseas Development Administration,

to advise you separately about the superannuation aspect.

8. In conclusion, I attach notes on procedures for Governors. I hope all this will be helpful.
