These now constitute a majority of holders in Dependent Territories posts.
Requirements for period 1981-1990
Between 54 and 66 postings will need to be filled.
Identifiable Existing Manpower
Survey of existing sources. Between 1981 and 1990 about 39 of our requirements could be filled from these sources.
The Gap
There will be a shortfall of about 21.

While existing HMOCS talent should be used, more use must be made of Diplomatic Service Officers

Training and Career Planning
Diplomatic Service officers earmarked for Dependent Territories jobs could be trained by postings to suitable FCO departments and middle level Dependent Territories postings and by short training attachments. Careful career planning would be necessary.
