October and November are usually the busiest months at this Post. For this reason, we decided to compile statistics for the 12 month periods October 1979 September 1980 and October 1980 - September 1981 for a better reflection of the workload.

Figure in parenthesis in the first column represents chargeable requests under the Agency Finding Service, i.e. prior to the introduction of the Market Advisory Service in April 1980.

Record of preliminary enquiries not kept until 1.1.81 in accordance with TRED letter MTX 120/8 of 9.12.80.

Prior to 1.1.81, it was discovered that the Receptionist had been recording all visitors, not commercial only, hence the inflated figure in the first column.

Record of person/days at Trade Fairs not kept until 1.1.80 in accordance with the MTX 1(revised 1979) enclosed with TRED letter MTX 120/1 of 24.9.79.

Government Supplies Department, originator of most Hong Kong Government tenders, consolidated many of their tenders during 1980 and issued to selected suppliers. This explained the reduced output in the first column. However, Hong Kong's compliance with the Agreement on Government Procurement of the GATT, Geneva 1979 has led to more tenders published in the Government Gazette since 1.1.81.
