Under the Bill, such records will (by new section 490 of the principal Ordinance) be immune from search and from

production in court except

(a)

in a prosecution for an offence created by

the Bill; or

(b)

where the Attorney General has exercised the

power given to him by the Bill to order their

disclosure.

11.

Disclosure of confidential information is, by new section 49D of the principal Ordinance, to be an offence punishable with a fine of $5,000 and 6 months' imprisonment. It is provided, however,

that such an offence is not committed where

(a)

(b)

disclosure is made for research purposes, without revealing the identity of any drug addict, in accordance with new section 49E of the principal Ordinance;

an addict gives his consent to the disclosure, in accordance with new section 49F of the principal Ordinance;

(c) disclosure is ordered by the Attorney General, in

accordance with new section 49G of the principal Ordinance;

(a)

disclosure is made to the Central Registry or to a reporting agency for the purpose of their work;

(e) disclosure is made to a doctor for the purpose of treating any person or of investigating the cause of a death;
