The above is (was ?) a constituent of mine and I submit herewith, for your comments and guidance, a photostat of a letter of 28th June from his father, Mr. Len Clements of Kesgrave.
Christopher is serving a sentence for murder, the trial and related circumstances having been the subject of much correspondence between myself and Lord Goronwy Roberts some four years or so ago. I am sure that your Office has a voluminous file.
In particular, could you please guide me as to the paragraph, which I have sidelined, and also assure me that the prison authorities will show the utmost flexibility towards the parents when they make their annual visit to their son this coming October.
The reference to the Reverend Matchett arises because he is in charge of the Seamens' Mission, where he puts-up the parents at minimal cost. The father is a skilled, but not very well remunerated, shop floor engineer in Ipswich.

When replying, I would be grateful if I could be given some hints as to possibilities and precedents as to petitioning the Governor of Hong Kong for the parole or early release of Christopher, after serving a number of years of his sentence.
