Liaison with Chinese Customs Authorities

ɓ

On

A Guangdong Customs delegation visited the Customs and Excise Service in March 1981. In May 1981, a Hong Kong delegation went to Guangzhou to discuss security matters generally including smug- gling. The regular security liaison meetings which were then instituted can deal with matters in this field as necessary. the other hand, the Customs offer to set up direct links with Chinese counterparts has not yet been taken up. At sea, the Chinese have continued to be active in patrolling and intercepting (some- times in Hong Kong waters!).
