On 11th January he received a telephone call from Mr. Ross, CSP informing him that the deceased was to be arrested by officers of the SIU for Gross Indecency, The time for the arrest was to be 1000 hrs, but this time was changed at his request to 1030 hrs. He then informed the Kowloon District Police Commander Mr. LI Kwan-ha of the proposed arrest.

At about 1215 hrs on Monday, 14th January he informed the deceased that the SIU wanted to interview him and would be coming across at 1030 hrs on the following day, 15th January. The only comment the deceased made was to say "I thought all that nonsense was finished with ages ago".

At about 1830 hrs that evening he met the deceased in the company of Mr. M. Pelly and a European who was introduced to him as Mr. Stephen Llewellyn of Hampton Winter and Glynn. He was present when Llewellyn telephoned Mr. Brooks at Police Headquarters and tried to arrange a change in time for the following day. After this and as far as he can recall the deceased left with Mr. Llewellyn.

He will state that at about 1010 hrs the following day (15th January) a Mr. P.B. Stevens came to his office saying that he had been sent by Mr. Llewellyn to be present when the deceased was being interviewed. He made arrangements for Mr. Stevens to go to the office of the deceased to await his arrival.

At about 1035 hrs Chief Inspector uinn and Inspector TIN arrived in his office. Mr. Quinn said that he had come to arrest the deceased and also that he had a search warrant for his quarters at Homantin Service Flats. They waited for the deceased for some time and then Mr. Trotman attempted to telephone the deceased's quarters but without success. It was then decided that Mr. Trotman, Mr. Quinn, Mr. Stevens and the Staff Relations Officer for Kowloon City Mr. LI Shiu-leung, CIP should go to the deceased's quarter. The party arrived at the flats at 1115 hrs and the Manageress Mrs. Gafoor was requested to use her keys to open the door. It was found to be locked and it was then forced open. He will state that he followed Chief Inspector Quinn into the main lounge which was in darkness with the curtains drawn. When the lights were turned he noticed that the inside of the main door had been secured in four places. He will state that he saw the suicide note on the writing desk and that it had been signed by the deceased and dated 0610 hrs 15.1.80. He will say that he is familiar with the deceased's handwriting and that he has no doubt whatsoever that it was written by him.

He will further state that he gave instructions for the bedroom door to be forced open and that he followed Chief Inspector Quinn into the room. When the light switches were turned on he saw the body of the deceased lying on the floor. A Police revolver.
