ADDITIONAL OPINION OF DR. JOHNSON

Additional Opinion

15th August, 1980.

re the death of John Richard MacLennan

by Dr. H.R.M. Johnson

Appendix 29

At 10.30 a.m. on Friday, 15th August 1980 I went to Police Headquarters, Arsenal Street, Hong Kong, with Mr. P. Prescott. There we met Mr. Alistair Cimino who showed us the following items which we examined :-

1. A .38 revolver No. RHKP 4894

2. Five fired rounds (Labelled 30/80K, C28A, 28B,

C280, C24 & C25)

3. Five cartridge cases and one unfired round

(Labelled C27)

4. Khaki green sweater (Labelled CIO 30/80K)

5. Green Shirt (Labelled C 30/80K)

I noted holes in the front of both garments correspond- ing to entry wounds Nos. 1 to 5 in Dr. Wong's post mortem report. There were three exit holes in the back of the shirt but only two in the sweater corresponding to exit wounds 1 and 3 in Dr. Wong's report.

At 2.30 p.m. the same day, we visited Flat 410B Homantin Service Flats with Acting Senior Superintendent Wallis and DMD R. Brown. We inspected the flat. Mr. Wallis indicated an aircondi- tioning switch in the corner of the bedroom (centred 4 ft. 6 ins. above the floor). The chip shown in photograph C3B had been re- paired but it appeared to have been about 5 ft. or 5 ft. 1 in. above the floor of the deceased's bedroom. Mr. Wallis indicated to us where a cupboard and drawer unit had stood on the opposite wall to the switch wall near the left hand window of the bedroom.

At 3.30 p.m. we went to Kowloon City Police Station with Mr. Brown and Mr. Wallis and in a cell there inspected a cupboard and drawer unit which we were told had been removed from Flat 410B Homantin Service Flats. The woodwork of the left hand side of the front of the third drawer from the top was splintered and there was an apparent bullet track on the left hand side in the frame running at an angle to the horizontal of approximately 30, 16 inches above ground level.
