The name of the Director of the Visa Office

will be notified to, and agreed in advance

by, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

The Director of the Visa Office will provide the Director of Protocol (will) a full list of

China-based members of the staff and their

dependents on 1 January and 1 July each year.

Details of new arrivals and departures will

be provided as they occur. The number of such

staff will be kept to a reasonable level

consistent with the work of the Visa Office.

(vii)

China-based members of the Visa Office staff

will be provided by the Hong Kong authorities

with identity cards to show that they work in

the Visa Office.

(viii)

The Hong Kong branch of the New China News

Agency and its Director will continue as now

to be used as the normal channel of communication

in Hong Kong between the British authorities and

the authorities of the People's Republic of China.
