Miss LIANG arrived at Lowu on Sunday, 17 May 1981. She
was in transit to Austria and her documentation was in order. A
transit visa allowing her to remain for 48 hours was issued.

Although we do not as a normal rule record the waiting time
of transit passengers, we know that Miss LIANG was the 58th transit
passenger out of a total of 80. She must have crossed the border
during the late morning or early afternoon.

given an extension of stay to prolong her visit before leaving for

Miss LIANG remained in Australia until 28 August 1981.
when she applied for a visit visa to Hong Kong at the British High
Commission, Canberra for a stay of one week on her way back to China.
She did not wait for the outcome of her application and travelled to
Hong Kong with her father on 20-9-81. She arrived at 9.10 p.m. by
flight CX 100. During the interview with the Immigration Officer
at Tai Kat, she said that she did not have time to wait for the outcome
of her visa application and wanted to stay in Hong Kong for 10 days.
The interview took about 15 minutes and was done in private. Miss LIAN
was then taken to the baggage collection area to collect her luggage.
She was later examined by Customs Officers as part of their routine
inspection.
She was body searched by Customs, but not stripped.
