It follows that the Home Secretary cannot accept the proposals in the Lord Privy Seal's minute on a contingency basis. If Lord Geddes brings forward an amendment on the lines Paul Bryan has suggested, then the Home Secretary feels that it should be resisted in the same way that his amendment on Report has been successfully resisted.
