1. I submit a draft reply to The Duke of Wellington who wrote to The Secretary of State on 27 July expressing concern about the amendment to the Nationality Bill which gives Gibraltarians a right to British citi: enship. HKGD, SED and the Home Office

concur.

2. The LPS and Mr Luce are due to meet the Home Secretary on 6 August. However we do not wish news of this or of the Government's future policy vis-à-vis the amendment to become known until shortly before the Report Stage on 6 October.
