specifically that 'British (name of dependency) citizen' was an optional alternative for passport and other

administrative purposes to CBDT there need not be confusion in the minds of immigration authorities.

4. The advantages resulting from such an amendment are likely to be that

a)

Hong Kong would perhaps be reassured of their Britishness.

b)

Gibraltar, who would prefer separate citizenships

for the dependencies, would have their identity made clear. c) a further attempt to give British citizenship to the Falkland Islands might be forestalled.

5. I should be grateful for your comments on the above and your views as to whether we should take up the question with the Home Office.
