Annex A

Proposed amendments to the British Nationality Bill 1981 to make provision for separate citizenship

for each dependent territory

Delete Part II of the Bill and insert the following

Citizenship of each of the dependent territories.

??PART II

BRITISH (DEPENDENT TERRITORIES) CITIZENSHIP

13. (1) Subject to subsections (2) and (3), the

provisions of sections 1 to 12 shall apply to each of the

dependent territories specified in the first column of

Schedule 6 as if references to "the United Kingdom"

(otherwise than in the context of the term "citizen of

the United Kingdom and Colonies") "British citizen",

"Crown service under the government of the United Kingdom"

and "Her Majesty's government in the United Kingdom" were

references to -

•

(a) the name of the territory as specified in

the first column of. Schedule 6;

(b)

the description specified in the second column

of Schedule 6 relevant to that territory;
