Given that Government's relationship with the media is a legitimate object of public interest, a suitable opportunity will be found to put over the decision of Members and the thinking behind it. As a courtesy, Commercial Radio will be informed by CTEL of the Council's decision.

Executive Council is asked to advise whether:-
the existing pattern of radio sound broadcasting should continue and that no further commercial radio licences should be issued for the time being,
a further detailed review should be undertaken in 1986, including a survey of public attitudes towards sound broadcasting.
(The Secretary for Information (Mr A. J. SCOTT) and the Commissioner for Television and Entertainment Licensing (Mr N, J. V. WATT) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
