The BBC would like to conduct the experiment during the summer It could be financed out of existing resources. Thereafter, if the transmissions were continued, an estimated extra £24,000 p.a. would be needed. Mr Ridley approved the idea of an experiment on these terms and said FCO would reply in this sense to an expected BBC letter giving precise proposals.
13. It was agreed that the next meeting in the series would be held after the results of the FCO's approach to the Treasury.
