Building design standards
7.23
Whenever the standard plan of school buildings is reviewed, improve- ments in existing schools should also be considered in line with current educational needs.
Physical access for disabled children
7.24
In future more child care centres and primary schools will have to be physically modified to enable disabled children with less severe mobility problems to be integrated with other children in pre-school and primary school settings. The more severely disabled will however remain in special centres and special schools. For those who can and should be integrated with able- bodied children, two primary schools in each school net will be made fully accessible. Progress in attaining this objective will be monitored during the biennial major reviews of the Rehabilitation Programme Plan.
