In September 1981, the new two-year course will replace
the existing two-year course currently conducted by the Advisory Inspectorate.
Initially, it will cater for 120 teachers each year, increasing to 240 in 1984.
Graduates from this course will be designated "Qualified Kindergarten Teachers".

The twelve-week course, designed to give some training to as many teachers
as possible and as quickly as possible, is planned to start in September 1982.
Each course will cater for 180 teachers with two courses being conducted each

The Government intends to require kindergartens to employ a
substantial proportion of Qualified Kindergarten Teachers and Assistants
Teachers. It is planned to meet the following targets:-
(a) by September 1984, all kindergartens should be
required to employ at least one Qualified Kindergarten
Teacher or Assistant Teacher;
