deployment, the visiting party has had to comment on the nature and direction of the programmes offered at the Baptist College. That is, the programme objectives are currently limited by the resources and staff strengths; enhancement of staffing and resources would open the question of whether the objectives continue to be the most appropriate. The visiting party does not wish to offer any guidance on this, but explores instead what the options might be. The visiting party, further, believes that the Baptist College has the potential and interest to offer many types of programme that would continue to be complementary in nature to those of the Polytechnic; thus, opening the question of objectives, does not lead necessarily (or even probably) to duplication of work.

BIOLOGY
Introduction
Members have been hampered by the lack of a higher diploma comparator in Biology at the Polytechnic. Therefore, the biology within the HD in Medical Laboratory Sciences has been used, supplemented by knowledge of the levels generally in science, such comparisons as can be made are at the level of the Senior Diploma of the Baptist College. The very different objectives of the programmes have also made comparisons difficult, as discussed above.
Student Input
HKP Factual The entry requirement is 5 0' levels. Actually students generally have 2 'A' levels, with grade averages C/D and a proportion of good B grades.
HKBC Factual Two 'A' levels are required with no stipulated minimum grade, together with 6 '0' levels (2) at C and 4 at E). 'A' levels average grades D/E with rarely any higher.
HKBC Comment In general students failed to enter the two universities. Whilst these students may be less well qualified than those of the Polytechnic, they are highly motivated and appear to be capable of learning at Senior Diploma level.
