The report might
be more complex to assemable than a course report; a delay
of 2 to 3 months for a cleared report might be needed, but
the essential character of the recommendations would be
transmitted much earlier. This report may take into account the conditions and standards prevailing at the two Univer- sities in Hong Kong (See paragraph 7 above).
Re-validation
In the light of CNAA's experience, it is accepted that approval of courses by Hong Kong Government should be time limited to a maximum of 6 years (to fit in with the UPGC triennial cycle) and subject to re-validation and renewal of approval. In certain circumstances (e.g. where a proposed course is in an area of rapid technological change, or where approval is conditional on a significant amount of development work), shorter periods of approval may be recommended.
Standing of Reports
All reports will be submitted to UPGC through the proposed H.K. Sub-Committee of the CNAA Committee
for Academic Policy, and will thus have the standing of formal reports of Council.
19. Course Schemes
It is envisaged that course schemes will be
submitted by the Polytechnic to UPGC. This allows for the possibility that UPGC may wish to ask the Polytechnic to amplify certain sections and/or submit them to CNAA with comments to which it would wish the validating advisory team to give its attention. In particular, CNAA would always
welcome comments on any Hong Kong context of which it might
otherwise be unaware.
