Action Taken

лис

At its meeting on 12 January the TUC's International Committee considered Professor Turner's Study on Labour Relations in Hong Kong. I gather the Study did not create much interest and that the TUC will be making further enquiries about the attitudes of its affiliates before considering what further action is appropriate.

2. It is possible however that the Report has led Mr Walsh, the TUC's International Secretary, to think of a TUC visit to Hong Kong. A delegation consisting of Mr Moss Evans, the General Secretary of the Transport and General Workers Union, and Mr Wheatley of the Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers, will be visiting Japan in the second half of March. Mr Walsh may be contemplating the possibility of that delegation spending three or four days in Hong Kong whilst en route to or from Japan. I will keep you advised how things develop.
