If Exco decides in favour of a feasibility study of the Deep Bay site, it will be important to make sure the Chinese are not confused about our plans. My present feeling is that I would talk to NCNA here once the Exco decision is made. I will write about this further when the Exco decision has taken place.

When you get your Hong Kong newspapers for the week, you will see that there has been a flurry in the South China Morning Post about alleged Chinese plans to build an airport also in the Deep Bay area. The background and present state of our knowledge are covered in the attached copies of minutes by Peter Webb and myself. I intend to talk to NCNA about this tomorrow to see if I can clarify the Shenzhen plans; but I am not hopeful of
success.
