An Ordinance to amend the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to empower the Legislative Council, by resolution, to increase fines imposed under Ordinances and subsidiary legislation, to empower increased fines to be provided in subsidiary legislation, and for purposes connected therewith.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Interpretation and General Clauses (Amendment) (No. 2) Ordinance 1981.
2.
Section 28(e) of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting “$2,000" and substituting the following-
"$5,000".
3. The principal Ordinance is amended by adding after section 88 the following-
"Power to increase fines.
88A. (1) The Legislative Council may, by resolution, amend any Ordinance so as to increase the amount of any fine specified in that Ordinance.
(2) A resolution under this section may contain such incidental, consequential and supplemental provisions as may be necessary or expedient for the purpose of giving full effect to the resolution.”.

An Ordinance to amend the Chater Masonic Scholarship Fund Ordinance.
[1 May 1981]
Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent
of the Legislative Council thereof.
1.
This Ordinance may be cited as the Chater Masonic Scholarship Short title. Fund (Amendment) Ordinance 1981.
2.
Section 1A of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting Amendment of
section 1A. subsection (2) and substituting the following—
(Cap. 1007.)
1981.
(2) The scholarships provided under subsection (1) shall be at the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic or any seat of higher learning situated outside the Colony.".
