MEMORANDUM FOR EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

Kowloon Canton Railway Ordinance

(Chapter 99)

KOWLOON-CANTON RAILWAY (RESTRICTED AREAS) REGULATIONS 1981

On 10th March 1981, having considered memorandum

XCR (81)40, Members advised and the Governor ordered :-

(a)

(b)

that the Kowloon-Canton Railway (Amendment) ; ; Bill 1981 should be introduced into the Legislative Council; and

that the Kowloon-Canton Railway (Restricted Areas) Regulations 1981 should be approved in principle to be submitted for final approval by Members after the Bill has been passed into law.

The Bill was passed by the Legislative Council on 29th April 1981 and received the assent of the Governor on 30th April 1981.

The General Manager Railway has advised that the administrative arrangements necessary to implement the new regulations will be completed by 1st August 1981. It is proposed therefore that the Regulations should come into operation on 1st August 1981, and provision for this has been incorporated in regulation 1 of the Regulations.

Members will be asked to advise, under section 29(2A) of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Ordinance (Chapter 99), whether the Kowloon- Canton Railway (Restricted Areas) Regulations 1981 should be made.
