Approaches from the UK.
Mr. Chen advised that GPC was informed by the Second Ministry of Machine Building Industry, which is responsible for the nuclear industry in China, that approaches had been made from the U.K. to that Ministry, offering cooperation in various aspects of power generation, including nuclear.
Mr. Chen said he was not very sure who the initiating body was in the UK and questioned if Dr. Marshall was behind it again.
He advised that contacts in respect of the Guangdong Nuclear Project should preferably be established through the Ministry of Electric
Power.
Since the Feasibility Study was still being examined, a deferment in the discussions with the U.K. was suggested, pending completion of the reviewing process.
Mr. Chen said that both the Central and Provincial Governments attached importance to the supply of British Equipment and upon completion of the reviewing process in Beijing, a British delegation would be invited to China.

Joint GEC/ Framatome Proposal.
Mr. Chen said that Framatome and GEC had not made any joint offers on the Guangdong Nuclear Project and suggested that this proposal should be made soon. Personally, he thought it would be likely for the Guangdong Nuclear Power Station to have a French Reactor and British equipment for the Conventional Island.
