Customs Service is required to ensure that certificates of origin
are correct and to agree the basic trade statistics with H M Customs.

The Hong Kong Electronics Association claim to have 170 firms in
membership but has only been in existence for about 18 months. It has
a strong chairman, Mr Richard Day (although he comes from the publishing
industry). The UK High Commission have expressed the opinion that in
Hong Kong such associations tend to be rather ephemeral and other
organisations might claim to represent the industry.

China presents both an opportunity and a difficulty for Hong Kong.
Joint Venture companies are established just across the border from the
colony for production of sets and tubes, some minor part of which being
added in the colony to avoid import restrictions.
