We

Thank you for your letter of 9 November. had not, I think, heard of the hijacking attempt mentioned in your para 2. We were, however, aware of a plan to hijack a CAAC aircraft last month to secure the release from prison in Hong Kong of NG Sik-ho a convicted drug-trafficker. The Guangdong Public Security Bureau informed us of this plot, which was hatched by the head of a counterfeiting syndicate said to be a close friend of NG Sik-ho. As far as we know nothing happened.

2.

A Public Security Ministry delegation is visiting Hong Kong this week, primarily in order to study Immigration Department's organisation, training and procedures, but also to look at airport security. will report after the visitors have gone.
