The two-page first instalment began by giving a generai description of the geography and economy of Hongkong in the first page, and then launched attacks on all aspects of life in this city; stressing the cut- throat competition for money, the mental patients, all sort of crimes, gamblings (including horse-racing), hard working for survival, high prices of food, difficulty in getting a place to live in, expensive medical treatment, etc. It concluded by denouncing the "poor and ugly spiritual Life," although it had to admit that "in material life quite a few things are advanced."

The second instalment is still unavailable. Generally speaking, the aim of this series is to throw mud on Hongkong so that less people will look to this place as a paradise and think. that capitalism is superior to socialism. It does this not by sheer denunciation but by giving some descriptions and statistics to satisfy the people's curiosity about the colony.
I am afraid that some of the descriptions and statistics may attract people for Hongkong rather than scaring them away. For example, the first instalment said that the monthly income of some "high-ranking intellectuals is more than ten thousand Hongkong dollars" and that the monthly wage of workers may be "more than HK$3,000."
