Introduction

The problem of 1997 is a 'big issue much talked about by the people. We have recently conducted a comprehensive survey on the views of students, academies, 'green seal men' (new arrivals from China), villagers and members of the public.

Findings (survey on students)

Many against resumption

The targets of this survey are students in the two universities and

other post-secondary colleges.

Most of the supporters for a resumption by China based their consideration

Some others were on patriotism, saying that afterall HK is Chinese territory. not satisfied with the present. position in HK and hoped for improvement after a take-over by China. A small number had high hope with a Communist regime. Some believed HK would be resumed as a spécial zone.

Most of the people who were against the idea were afraid of the living pattern in China which they might not be able to adapt to. Some of them did not

like communism.
