MR NOTT'S PROPOSED TOUR OF THE MIDDLE EAST AND THE FAR EAST

1. We have sent you separately a copy of the Private Secretary's letter of 10 July to Mr Norbury in the Ministry of Defence, in which he says Lord Carrington has no objection to visits on the dates suggested subject to confirmation from posts that a satisfactory programme can be arranged.

2. I think it simplest if each geographical department now consults the posts for which it is responsible, copying telegrams to MODUK DS11. SEAD will accordingly despatch a telegram to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.
