CALL BY SIR MURRAY MACLEHOSE, GOVERNOR OF HONGKONG
1.
The Secretary of State is seeing Sir Murray MacLehose at 5.30 pm
on 23 June. I submit a brief on the topics that may be raised.
2.
Sir Murray is on leave at present but will be going into
hospital at the end of the month for an operation on his hip.
3. Sir Murray will retire next April. The question of his
successor is becoming a topic of increasing speculation in Hong
Kong.
4. The Governor has seen Sir Peter Carey at the Department of
Industry, Mr Ridley and the Governor of the Bank of England.
