16. Zhao recalled that in September 1979 Hua Guofeng, on his

visit to London as Premier, had conveyed an invitation from

Ye Jianying, proposing that Her Majesty The Queen should visit

China. He was now renewing this invitation. Lord Carrington said he would convey the invitation to Her Majesty.
