SECRETARY OF STATE'S VISIT TO HONG KONG 29 MARCH 1 APRIL: NEWS WEEK PROGRAMME

1. Mr Kenneth Kyle of Chatham House called on Mr Blaker today for a background briefing on Hong Kong. Mr Kyle is going to the territory on 22 March for 10 days in preparation for a programme on Hong Kong which he is presenting on BBC2's News Week on 10 April.

2. Mr Kyle and his colleagues will be in Hong Kong during the Secretary of State's visit an intend to include coverage of that in their programe. The Governor and the Hong Kong GIS are aware of Mr Kyle's visit via the Hong Kong Government Office.

3. Mr Blaker briefed Mr Kyle on the range of current Hong Kong issues.
