VISIT TO A FACTORY: The Ambassador suggests including a visit to a Sony factory not far from the centre of Tokyo. This would be interesting, welcomed by the Japanese and a demonstration of the importance we attach to inward investment in the UK (Sony employ over 900 people at a TV factory in Wales);
TIMING OF DEPARTURE: departure from Tokyo on the afternoon of Wednesday 8 April would enable Lord Carrington to arrive in London on the late evening of the same day (eg departure at 1400 (local) would mean arrival at 2300 (local)). Alternatively the Secretary of State could leave Tokyo on the evening of 8 April and arrive the following morning (2200 prefer?
