2. We are vigorously opposed to the equation of Zionion with racism but it is not in our interests to seek confrontation over the issue. There is nothing to be gained as far as we, Iaracl, the United Nations or the UN campaign against racial discrimination are concerned, from insisting that references to racialism in resolutions and other documents do not include Zionism. We should wait until somebody elso says they do. If any reference to Zionism or General Assembly Rosolution 3379 or racion or racial discriminatio is made, the delegation should immediately refer to the FCO for instructions, reporting the text, and seek co-ordination among the Nine (233 3736).
