Meetings will be held in the vicinity of the border, normally at Shenzhen and Lo Wu respectively.

The host authority will provide all necessary transport and accommodation facilities for the conduct of the meetings.

Those attending the consultation meetings will carry valid travel documents. If meetings are held in the border area, those attending will not be required to have visas or to go through customs formalities. If meetings are held elsewhere, special arrangements will be made.

ATTENDANCE AT MEETINGS

Attendance at meetings from both sides can be varied in accordance with the subject being discussed. On the Hong Kong side those normally attending would include representatives of the Security Branch of the Government Secretariat, the Political Adviser's Office, Police, Immigration and Customs. On the Guangdong side, those normally attending would include representatives of the Public Security authorities, the Foreign Affairs Office, Border Defence Unite and the Customs.

COMMUNICATIONS

21.

In order to facilitate communications between the

two sides, a cross border telephone link will be esta-

blished at Shenzhen and Lo Wu to be manned 24 hours a

day. Liaison officers can contact each other by means of this link or by written communications. Detailed arrangements for establishing the telephone link will be discussed at the first consultation meeting.

REVIEW

22.

The scope, frequency and arrangements for these meetings will be reviewed jointly by the two sides after

four months.
