SPEAKING NOTE
Following up Mr. Pang's representation to you on
A
the question of the Taiwan Film Festival or Taibei Films
Centre 81 sponsored by the "Film Biweekly" and Film Culture of Hongkong scheduled to be shown at the City Hall on the 31st of August, 1981 and possibly at the Planitorium, we have now found out that the "City News", organ of the Information Unit of the Urban Council and the Urban Ser- vices Department, on her ticket booking page, has listed at least three dates for six film shows presented by the Film Culture Centre of Hong Kong. So it seems that such
activities are still going on unabated.
The Hong Kong Daily News dated 8th August reported that the Head of the Taiwan National Library Xu Ligong (1776 4539 0501) had been invited to come to Hongkong bringing with him all the 18 films scheduled to be shown
here. The highlight of the occasion will be the film "IF I WERE FOR REAL" and possibly "IN THE FILES OF SHANGHAI", both have been regarded as notorious films. You must have noticed the statement by Sha Yexin, Li Shoucheng and Yao Mingde, authors of the stage play "IF I WERE FOR REAL" dated August 17th, 1981 opposing the showing of the film in Hongkong and in any other places. So the whole busi-
ness is a sort of machination, its political aim is ob- vious.
