To consider the recommendations

Review, Landlord in the Committee's and Tenant

Report and the

(Consolidation) extent and timing Ordinance

of their adoption.

Progress Made & Present Position

The recommendations in the Report continued to be examined. Legislation is being drafted to give effect to the following major proposals :-

(a)

(b)

the expansion of the Lands Tribunal to provide a reasonable degree of security of tenure to tenants of premises not otherwise protected by the Ordinance;

the take-over of the Tenancy Tribunal's functions under the Ordinance by the Lands Tribunal;

(c) the adoption of the same system

of controlling rent increases in respect of principal tenancies and sub-tenancies; and

(a)

the provision of guidelines for the determination of redevelopment cases etc.

Next Quarter's Target

To submit the proposals to ExCo and LegCo for: consideration in the form of the Landlord and Tenant (Consolidation) (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 1981.
