Housing Assistance for Civil Service
14.
The home purchase and housing loan schemes
approved by Executive Council and Finance Committee in
June and July have now been announced to staff. Implement-
ation arrangements have been finalised and the first batch
of applications will be invited in early November 1981.
Eligibility for the Home Purchase Scheme is extended to
pensionable or contract officers on salary point 29
or above on the Master Pay Scale or with 20 or more years
service. Eligibility for the housing loan scheme, which
is expected to be of particular assistance to those nearing
retirement, is extended to officers with at least 10 years
pensionable service.
Fringe Benefits for Married Women officers
15.
The new policy of equal eligibility for fringe
benefits, irrespective of sex and marital status, was
approved in principle by the Executive Council on 25
August 1981, and the financial implications of the proposal
were subsequently approved by Finance Committee on
28 October 1981. Under the new policy, married women
officers become eligible for fringe benefits on the same
basis as their male counterparts. A circular promulgating
the implementation of this new policy will soon be issued.
