Purpose

To support the development of Music and the Performing hrts in Hong Kong.

Academy for Performing Arts To provide facilities for

training and rehearsal for professional performance groups.

Next Quarter Target

In June 1981, ExCo endorsed a policy of support for the development of performing arts and the establishment of an Advisory Council for the Performing Arts.

In September 1981 ExCo endorsed a joint Government Jockey Club study proposal to establish an Academy for the Performing Arts to be managed by a subvented organisation at a site in Wan Chai. User require- ments have now been drawn up and the Jockey Club has invited architects to prepare preliminary sketch plans.

To establish the Advisory Council for the Performing Arts.

To consider capital funding of the project, to estimate recurrent cost and to submit to Finance Committee
