Hong Kong Civil Servants General Union (HKCSGU) & Liaison Office of Public Service Unions (LOPSU)
19.
In the last three months, LOPSU has organised a
number of seminars to enable civil servants' unions to
exchange views on current topics of common interest, such as
double pay at the Chinese New Year and staff confidential
reports. Although other unions were invariably invited
to attend, most of the participants were LOPSU's own members.
The views expressed at these seminars were normally briefly
recorded and passed to the Government "for information and
consideration".
20.
LOPSU on one occasion voiced moral support for
the Association of Covenment Land & Engineering Surveying
Officers in connection with the latter's allegation of victimisation
of its Chairman. This however, did not lead to any confrontation.
21.
The HKCSGU, on the other hand, has been comparatively
quiet. It has been directing its efforts to seeking periodical
informal meetings with the Civil Service Branch which the
Union hopes will lead to the Union being granted formal
consultative status on service-wide matters.
