Overseas recruitment in London has also been

will report for duty in late August. Five local officers have
also been recommended for appointment by the Hong Kong Government
Office, and one has so far accepted the offer. 3 of the 4
Home Civil Service candidates who have accepted secondment
to Hong Kong as AOSGC have now arrived, and the remaining one
is due in September. Mr L. Boyes, a secondee from the Diplomatic
Service, will arrive in August, and Mr D.G. Ruthven, who
previously served in the New Hebrides, early in 1982.

Recruitment of Administrative Officers 1982-83

It has been agreed that from 1982-83, the recruit-
ment of British Administrative Officers for the Hong Kong
Government should be carried out through the Civil Service
Commission on a trial basis. It is likely that about 15 officers
will be required. A publicity pamphlet on the Hong Kong
Administrative Service has been prepared, and is now being printed.
