3. The planned provision of part-time day places in the academic year 1981/82 has
exceeded the maximum practical capacity of 13,930 which was stipulated for this mode of attendance in the Green Paper on Senior Secondary and Tertiary Education published in November, 1977. This increase in provision is needed to satisfy the demand of industry and is achieved by reducing the provision of full-time places correspondingly.
