Reservoir and Tap Shek Kok in the northwest of the New Territories, have been declared. Four road blocks on arterial roads have been set up to stop movement of dogs into and out of the infected areas.

Over 80 000 dogs have been inoculated and 50 000 dogs humanely destroyed.

(iii) DAF and DS have jointly prepared

a report on their official visit to Guangzhou in October 1980. The report highlighted problems facing the Guangdong authorities in controlling rabies.

To continue to destroy stray dogs and inoculate owned dogs.

To consider long-term measures to eradicate rabies in co-operation with the Guangdong

authorities and to draw up

an operational plan for the prevention and control of rabies in Hong Kong.
