Modernisation

To electrify the KCR in conjunction with a programme of capital works to improve the carrying capacity of the railway.

(a) The programme for electrification

remains :

completion of an inner suburban service to Fo. Tan by Spring 1982;

(ii) completion of electrification

to Lo Wu by the end of 1982.

with progress and outstanding items on the overall project has now been wound up. It may be recalled if necessary, but problems will now be handled by CRD as appropriate.

Group met once during the period under review.

(e) The first EMU's (rolling stock.

The units) have been delivered.

(f) The new double-tracked Beacon Hill

Tunnel was commissioned on 25.4.81.
