HONG KONG: VISIT OF MR JOHN BREMBRIDGE

This is to confirm the arrangements that we have made at your request for Mr Brembridge, the Financial Secretary elect, to visit the Treasury.

2. The Deputy Secretary responsible for Hong Kong, Mr F R (Russell) Barratt has agreed to see Mr Brembridge at 15.30 hours on Friday, 10 April and the Financial Secretary (Mr Nigel Lawson) has agreed to see Mr Brembridge at 11.30am on Monday, 13 April.

3. We will, of course, require briefing for these calls, including a personality note. I suggest that the Financial Secretary's brief should suffice for both cases. The briefing should cover any matters of current interest that Mr Barratt or the Financial Secretary should be aware of. The briefing should be with me no later than close of play on Thursday, 9 April please.
